Fall behind
→ 「～が遅れる / 遅れを取る」
物事の進行が遅れていることは「Fall behind _____.」と表現すことができます。特に仕事、勉強、支払い、約束などが遅れている状況でよく使われるフレーズです。例えば、生徒が学校をしばらく休んだために、勉強に遅れが出ている場合は「He’s falling behind in class.（彼は勉強が遅れています。)」と表します。
- 「Can’t keep up with _____（～が追い付かない・付いていけない）」も同様の意味として使える表現。
- I’m falling behind schedule.
（予定より遅れています。） - I’ve been so busy planning the wedding that I’m falling behind on my work.
（結婚式の計画で忙しく、仕事が溜まってきています。） - I’m falling behind on my credit card payments.
（クレジットカードの支払いが遅れています。） - I can’t keep up with the pace at work.
（仕事のペースについていけません。）

Can I make a suggestion? In your examples of how to use this I would say it like this instead:
I’ve been so busy planning the wedding THAT I’m falling behind ON my work.
I’m falling behind ON my credit card payments.
