【Emily】So, how safe do you think it is to live in LA?

【Andy】I have personally never had any big problems with safety. There’s obviously places in LA that you kind of…you kind of want to stay away from. And maybe even then, like it’s just also the timing.

 

【Emily】Yeah.

【Andy】Obviously, you’re not going to go to certain neighborhoods and stuff late at night or anything, or walking through certain neighborhoods. But overall, I’ve never had a problem, especially in Torrance.

【Emily】Yeah, Torrance is good.

【Andy】Torrance, I can walk around, walk around the park, walk around the neighborhood. No problem. Obviously, if you’re going into like L.A., L.A., like downtown.

【Emily】Oh, my gosh. I’ve had incidents.

【Andy】Let’s run with that, please. What do you mean by that?

【Emily】Because like I’ve taken public transportation in L.A. and I’ve seen like a lot of stuff that surprised me and made me feel like, “Ooh, I don’t know if I want to keep, like, using public transportation, especially as, like, a girl.”

【Andy】Mm hm.

【Emily】And, yeah, I’ve seen things where I know if, like, that I would never see in, like, Japan, you know what I mean?

【Andy】Mm hm, right.

【Emily】Or, like, fights going down.

【Andy】Oh, for sure.

【Emily】Or, like, public indecency or something like that, you know?

【Andy】Absolutely, yeah.

【Emily】Yeah, but that’s like the heart of LA, you know?

【Andy】That’s what I’m saying, like it’s like in the actual city, it can be a little more sketchy, but…

【Emily】Yeah, yeah. You don’t really live there, you know?

【Andy】Mm hm, yeah. You’re visiting.

【Emily】Yeah.

【Andy】It’s like you’ll see it, and most of the time, as long as you stay clear of it.

【Emily】Yeah, exactly.

【Andy】You’re fine.

【Emily】No eye contact.

【Andy】Don’t go looking for trouble. Yeah, exactly no eye contact.
