【Andy】Do you believe LA is a good place to live?

【Emily】That’s a hard question because I love California. There’s many great things about living here, like the weather, the people, the beaches. There’s so many interesting shops and lots of cultures.

【Andy】Mm hm.

【Emily】So you get to experience a lot here. But then there are like challenges where I feel like maybe for some people it might not be worth it but for some people it will. So like the price like the inflation.

【Andy】For sure.

【Emily】Um, hmm, I think inflation is probably the biggest one that makes people want to like move out of California. Also, possibly I don’t want to…I don’t want to scare people, but I guess like depending on where you live because of inflation, like people have to live in maybe more unsafe areas.

【Andy】Yup.

【Emily】And that makes them want to move out of California so they can live in a better neighborhood. So I think those are like the two things to consider.

【Andy】Yeah, I would say also too, just kind of like…Cause I wouldn’t mind personally, it is expensive to live.

【Emily】Yeah.

【Andy】Like, you know, it’s so expensive. Like, but I wouldn’t mind moving to another part of California, you know? And there’s definitely like, I would say, safer parts. Like I would say very Northern California, like beyond San Francisco, beyond, you know, like, like underneath Oregon, I feel like that’s very… you know, you’re away from the cities, but you’re like in the forest area. But it’s like I don’t know, maybe if you want to, if you can, there’s a lot to choose from in California. You have nature, yeah, you forest life, you got the city life, beach life, um, obviously I feel like the closer you are to the beach, the more expensive it is.

【Emily】 Yeah, yeah.

【Andy】But I personally, I’ll chill in the forest.

【Emily】I’m a beach person, so…

【Andy】I’ll take them both.

1) Worth it（〜する価値がある）

“worth it”は「時間・お金・努力をかける価値がある」を意味し、「大変だったけど結果的にやってよかった」と感じるときに、とてもよく使われる表現です。単に「いいものだ」というだけではなく、「コストや苦労に見合う価値がある」というニュアンスがあります。例えば、「そのレストランは高かったけど、それだけの価値はあったよ」は“The restaurant was expensive, but it was worth it.”と言います。

2) Move out of（〜から引っ越す）
