The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.

長く生きれば長く生きるほど、「態度」というものが人生において大きな影響を与えるのだと実感しています。

私にとって、「態度」は、事実よりも重要です。過去より、教育より、お金より、環境より、失敗より、成功より、他人が何を思ったり、言ったり、どうするかするより重要なのです。外見より、才能や技術より、大切なのです。「態度」は、仲間や教会や家を、作ったり壊したりします。

忘れてはならないのは、私たちはその日にどんな態度をとるか、毎日選べるということです。私たちは、過去を変えることは出来ません。周囲の人たちの振る舞いを変えることも出来ません。私たちは、必然の運命を変えられません。私たちが唯一できることは、私たちが持っている一本の弦で奏でることです。それが、私たちの「態度」なのです。人生とは１０％が自分の身に起こる事、９０％がそれをどう受け止めどう反応するかであると確信しています。
