【Emily】So where have you been feeling inflation the most lately?

【Andy】Gas pump.

【Emily】Ohhh yeah.

【Andy】Gas pump. That one is it’s just uh… unnoticeable like…

【Emily】Yeah yeah.

【Andy】But I will say though, I feel like that one is a little more directly affected from political things that have been going on um, but obviously like with inflation, I think too also like uh food for sure.

【Emily】Food.

【Andy】Like um, restaurants, fast food.

【Emily】Okay.

【Andy】Yeah, I just kind of noticed like, I mean, I’m going to Taco Bell so much cause it’s so much cheaper.

【Emily】That’s In-N-Out for me.

【Andy】Yeah, exactly, so you’re getting a good In-N-Out…You’re getting a good quality uh, burger at like still like a decent price.

【Emily】Like seven dollars, you know?

【Andy】It’s not bad.

【Emily】Yeah yeah yeah.

【Andy】But like definitely like yeah, there’s some, even McDonald’s is very expensive, I feel like now.

【Emily】Yeah.

【Andy】I just remember like in high school, I would get three double cheeseburgers for less than $5. Now it’s like 10 something.

【Emily】Wasn’t it like…

【Andy】It was like on the dollar menu, yeah.

【Emily】Yeah yeah yeah.

【Andy】So that kind of sucks.

【Emily】Yeah, for sure. The gas, oh my gosh. Like every time I pass by, I’m like, wait, what happened?

【Andy】Yeah, it’s just it’s like that’s kind of like my barometer, like okay so how are we doing as a country? Okay, it’s going on very cool, very cool, not too hot, yeah.

【Emily】Yeah.

1) I will say, though（ただ、これだけは言っておくと）

“I will say, though”は、「ただ、これだけは言っておくと」「とはいえ〜とは思う」を意味する会話表現です。すでに述べたことに例外を付け加えたり、別の視点をプラスしたりするときに使います。今回の会話でAndyは「ガソリン代が一番値上がりを感じる」と話したあとに、“But I will say though…”と続けて、「ただ、ガソリン価格はインフレだけでなく政治的な出来事の影響も大きいと思う」と自分の考えを補足しています。

ちなみに、“though”は文末や文中に置かれることが多く、柔らかく補足するニュアンスがあります。

2) For sure（もちろん）

3) Decent（まあまあ良い）

4) Suck（ひどい）

5) Pass by（〜の前を通り過ぎる）
