【Chris】Oh, I think some do. I think some do. I think some probably smash it. If I was, you know, myself, I definitely don’t perfect anything, but um, yeah. There’s definitely people that do really good at it, for sure.
【Christian】I think it’s funny though, ‘cause (because) um, for—for…in my example, um when I went to Italy…

【Christian】Of course. Um, and I tried their pizza, but it’s very, like simple. You know, the marinara…

【Christian】Um, you know, and I thought it was gonna (going to) be like, this amazing experience. But it turned out to be, all right. You know?

【Christian】I was like, “It’s good.” But it’s not, like—I thought it’d be…

【Christian】Yes, I have.
【Chris】Or Boston?
【Christian】Yes, I have.

【Christian】That’s really good.

【Christian】And even here, Blaze Pizza is, I think…
【Chris】Sure.
【Christian】…really good in my opinion, ‘cause you just put whatever you want on it.
【Chris】Yeah.
【Christian】Uh, but I asked, like my friends who also went to Italy, and you know, had pizza here…
【Chris】Mm hm.
【Christian】…and, uh other countries as well.
【Chris】Mm hm.
【Christian】And they’re like, “Oh, like what’s—what’s your—where’s your favorite pizza place?” Or like, “What’s your, like favorite pizza?” And they’re like—they mostly say, like, “California.” (laughs)
【Chris】Yeah.
【Christian】Which is really funny.
【Chris】Really funny, yeah.
【Christian】Yeah, so I always laugh at that. I always ask, like if anyone’s ever been to Italy and tried pizza elsewhere, I always ask them, like, “Do you like Italy pizza better or do you like, uh like, American pizza better?”
【Chris】It’s a different ball game. It’s a different ball game.
【Christian】Yeah, yeah.
【Chris】I mean, I think this—there’s definitely grades to pizza. You know what I mean? Like, um…I mean, you’re gonna go to the center of Colorado, they probably don’t have the greatest pizza. But maybe in Boston and towns like Chicago, they make it really good. You know? They’re kind of known for it.
You know, you go to New York…they’re kind of known for their pizza. Um, so I don’t know how, like real Italians feel about our, like pizza in New York.
【Christian】(laughs)
【Chris】I don’t know. They probably just throw it in our face or something, but…
【Christian】Like insult us?
【Chris】Yeah, exactly.

Christian visited Naples (Napoli) in the past and tried pizza there. While he enjoyed what he tried, it wasn’t as spectacular an experience as he was expecting. The pizza he tried in Naples was fairly simple in ingredients.

Smashは「打ち砕く」ことを意味する単語で、勢いよく何かを投げたり叩いたりして破壊することを意味します。例えば、野球のボールで窓ガラスが粉々に割れたり、花瓶が床に落ちて割れたり、ハンマーで指を打ちつけてしまうなどの状況で使われます。また、smashは「大成功」の意味で使われることもあり、音楽や映画が大ヒットしていることを表す際によく使われます。

3) Turn out（結局～になる）
Turn outは「～という結果になる」「結局～だと分かる」など、最終的な結果を伝える際に使われる表現です。例えば、朝は曇っていたのに昼から晴れて結果的に天気のいい1日になった場合は「It turned out to be a nice day.」と表現します。
- After all the fees, the airplane ticket turned out to be over a thousand bucks.

4) Different ball game（全く異なる状況）
Ball gameは「野球の試合」を意味しますが、比喩的にsituation（状況）を表す場合にも使われます。Different ball gameは、これまで経験したことのない状況を指して使われる表現で、初めて海外で生活をしたり、子供が生まれて親になるなどがその例です。
- Different ball gameと同じ意味で、a whole new ball gameという表現もあります。
- I’ve traveled to many countries. But living in a country is a different ball game.
（私はこれまで多くの国に旅行したことがありますが、その国で実際に生活するのとでは全く異なります。）
- I know you’ve done over 10 full marathons. But doing a triathlon is a completely different ball game.

5) Insult（侮辱する）
Insultは「侮辱する」「ばかにする」という意味の単語で、人を傷つけたり憤慨させる行為や態度を表します。失礼な言動に対しては、「That’s insulting.（それは侮辱的だ）」や「He insulted me.（彼に侮辱された）」などと言います。
- What you just said was pretty insulting.
