【Jenny】I have quite a few apps. A lot of them I don’t use, but there’s some good ones on here.
【Eri】So what are the best apps that you find your kind of go-to apps? Always using.
【Jenny】Well, the best one—and without this app, I wouldn’t be able to do my job…
【Eri】Mm hm.
【Jenny】…I wouldn’t be able to go to the studios. I wouldn’t be able to find anything. I wouldn’t be able to go home—is Google Maps.
【Eri】Yeah.
【Jenny】It’s the best.
【Eri】Yeah I used it today.
【Jenny】Yeah, I used it to find this office.
【Eri】Yeah.
【Jenny】I used it to figure out my train times.
【Eri】Uh huh.
【Jenny】It’s…it’s really a lifesaver.
【Eri】Uh huh.
【Jenny】Like, if I didn’t have this app, I wouldn’t have my job. Like, there’s just no way that I would be able to go to different studios…
【Eri】Uh huh. Yeah.
【Jenny】…or offices, because I’m terrible with directions.
【Eri】Yeah. It’s—it’s really um…a lifesaver.
【Jenny】Yeah.
【Eri】What do—what else do you use?
【Jenny】Uh well along with Google Maps, there’s Google Translate, which is great.
【Eri】Oh I started using that when you can use the camera feature.
【Jenny】Yeah, the camera feature is excellent. So if there’s a label or something that I don’t understand…
【Eri】Mm hm.
【Jenny】…then you can take a picture of it.
【Eri】Ingredients, or whatever. Mm hm.
【Jenny】And then you can swipe, um the part that you don’t understand, and uh it shows up. So I think that Google Translate when you use it as an actual translator for, um…

【Jenny】…like a paragraph or a text, then I think it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, because they’re usually not great. How ‘bout (about) you?
【Eri】Well I’m—I’m a news junkie.
【Jenny】Yeah.
【Eri】So I have one called “Breaking News,” and it is from the wires around the world.
【Jenny】Oh, okay.
【Eri】So, you know, all the—and it’s usually wired news that’s not fake news. (laughs)
【Jenny】Okay.
【Eri】Some of it’s fake news, because even some of the big ones like CNN and…
【Jenny】Yeah.
【Eri】…Fox and all of those are still questionable sometimes. You know, it’s all propaganda at the end of the day.
【Jenny】Yeah.
【Eri】But there are some releases that will tell you, you know, what’s happening around the world on a live basis.
【Jenny】Yeah. I—I like Google News for that reason too, because they’ll give you, uh a situation, like, if there’s a terror attack, then there’s multiple articles, and then it says one that’s highly cited. So you can kind of compare…

【Jenny】…and see, uh similarities and then you can kind of discern whether—which ones are fake news and…

1) Go-to（頼りになる〜）
Go-toは頼りになる人や物、場所を表す表現です。問題が発生した時に頼りになる人、必要な時に頼りになる物、必ず行くお気に入りのレストランなど、真っ先に思いつく第一候補を指します。
- If you need your computer fixed, Tom is the go-to person.（コンピューターを直してもらいたいんだったら、トムが頼りになるよ。）
- This is my go-to book for grammar.（文法に関しては、この本を頼りにしています。）
- In-N-Out is the go-to spot for hamburgers. （ハンバーガーと言えばやっぱりIn-N-Outでしょう。）
2) Terrible with directions（方向音痴）
方向音痴のことを Bad with directionsと言いますが、それをより強調した言い方が Terrible with directionsです。
方向感覚が良い場合は Good with directionsまたは Great with directionsと言います。ポイントは directionsのように、最後に「s」をつけることです。
- I’m so bad with directions. I get lost even with Google Maps.（私は本当に方向音痴なんです。Google マップがあっても道に迷ってしまいます。）
- How did you get lost? This is your third time here. You’re terrible with directions.（どうして迷ったの？ここに来るの3回目なのに。本当に方向音痴だね。）

3) Take with a grain of salt（話半分に聞く）
人から聞いた話やインターネットの情報などで多少疑わしいと思われることを、完全に真実として受け止めず、話半分に聞くことを Take it with a grain of saltと言います。直訳すると、「それを塩1粒と一緒に食べる」となり、塩1粒ならば、しょっぱすぎず食べやすいことから、情報も控えめに受け止めれば受け入れやすくなる、といったニュアンスになります。
- He exaggerates all the time. Just take what he says with a grain of salt.（彼の言うことはいつも大げさだから、話半分に聞きな。 ）
- That is not a reliable source. I’d take it with a grain of salt.（それは信用できる情報元じゃないよ。鵜呑みにしないことだね。）
- It’s probably not true but it’s funny. Just take it with a grain of salt.（真実じゃないかもしれないけど、面白いじゃん。まぁ、話半分に聞きなよ。）
4) Junkie（〜が大好きな人）
Junkieは本来、麻薬中毒者を意味する単語ですが、日常会話では、「〜マニア」や「〜が大好きな人」を表します。例えば、スポーツが大好きな人は Sports junkie、パソコンマニアは Computer junkieのように表現します。
- I’m a movie junkie. I watch at least 10 movies a week.（私は映画が大好きで、週に最低でも10本は見ます。）
- He’s obsessed with Japanese anime. He’s an anime junkie.（彼は日本のアニメに夢中で、アニメオタクです。）
- My brother is a baseball junkie. He knows all the players on every team.（私の兄は野球マニアで、全チームの全選手を知っています。）
5) Fake news（虚偽の報道・フェイクニュース）
Fake newsは、ここ最近アメリカで流行り始めた表現で、ソーシャルメディアやインターネットにおいて、クリック数を増やすために掲載されている虚偽の報道を指します。Facebookなど大手のソーシャルメディアサイトは、そうしたフェイクニュースを見極める対策に取り組んでいます。

ひとつ質問があります。「Along with」って「～のほかに」っていうよりは、「～と共に」って意味あいかなぁと思ったのですが、違う意味もあるのでしょうか？それとも何か使い分けがあるんでしょうか？

こんにちは！文脈によりますね。「〜と共に」の意味もあれば、「〜他に」や「〜に加えて」として解釈することもできます。「Google Mapsと共に、Google翻訳も使っている」よりは「Google Mapsの他に、Google翻訳も使ってる」の方が自然だと思いました。

そうですね、ネイティブはI’dの「d」の部分はかなり弱く言う傾向があります。I’dは「私だったら話半分で聞く」に「私は（今後）話半分に聞きます」になり、ここでは、I’dを使うのが適切でしょう。
