無駄遣いして買ったサンダル

【Jun】So, can you tell me about your recent splurge?
（最近無駄遣いして買ったものを教えてよ）

【Akina】Splurge? I have many splurges. I’m out of control these days. But, you know, for my birthday, you bought me those Birkenstock sandals.
（無駄遣いしたもの？ありすぎてどれから話せばいいかな。最近は財布のひもが緩くて。えっと、私の誕生日にビルケンシュトックのサンダルを買ってくれたでしょ）

【Jun】Right, right.
（うん）

【Akina】And they had, like, the really nice, like, gold buckle.
（金のバックルが付いたサンダルだった）

【Jun】Yeah.
（ああ）

【Akina】So you got me a pair in black. And then when we were at the farmer’s market the other day, I saw this girl and she had orange ones.
（それの黒を誕生日に買ってくれたよね。この間ファーマーズマーケットに行った時に、底にいた女の子が同じモデルのオレンジを履いていたの）

【Jun】The same sandals?
（同じサンダル？）

【Akina】The same sandals.
（同じサンダルよ）

【Jun】Exact same sandals.
（まったく同じサンダルなんだ）

【Akina】With the nice gold buckle. But with just orange instead.
（金のバックルが付いたオレンジバージョンのサンダルだったの）

【Jun】Gotcha.
（なるほど）

【Akina】And then I was like, oh, I never would’ve thought that I would like an orange sandal, but it looked really nice. And then I looked it up at nordstrom.com, and they were on sale.
（その時に、オレンジ色のサンダルが欲しくなるなんて思ってもみなかったけど、ホントにオシャレに見えたの。それで、Nordstrom[デパート]のオンラインショップにアクセスしたんだけど、そのサンダルがセールで安くなってたの）

【Jun】Of course.
（そりゃそうだ）

【Akina】Because it’s the end of summer, and no one is buying sandals now.
（だってもう夏も終わりで、サンダルを買う人なんていないから）

【Jun】That’s a good point right there.
（そうだよね）

【Akina】Well, now I have to buy it. So I bought it. So now I have these sandals, the same sandal, but one in black and one in orange.
（安くなってるから買わなきゃと思って、買っちゃったの！だから同じモデルのダンダルの色違い、黒とオレンジを持ってるわ）

【Jun】And you’re also forgetting to mention that you actually have an older pair.
（言い忘れてると思うけど、実は同じモデルの古いサンダルを持っているよね）

【Akina】Yeah. I also have two other Birkenstocks.
（そう。他にもビルケンシュトックを2足持ってるわ）

【Jun】So when I come home, sometimes I will see like, the black ones, orange ones, and also the old ones. All exactly…
（家に帰ってくると、たまに黒とオレンジと昔かったビルケンシュトックのサンダルが並んでいるのを目にするんだ。見た目は全部同じで…）

【Akina】And then I have another pair in my closet.
（実はもう一足クローゼットにあるの）

【Jun】So you have, like, an obsession with these sandals
（そのサンダルが好きでたまらないってことだね）

【Akina】Yeah.
（そうみたい）

【Jun】Do you have buyer’s remorse after buying the orange ones? Do you feel like,
（オレンジを買った後に後悔しなかった？）

【Akina】I kind of did when I was at the mall the other day because I saw these other sandals. They’re like Dr. Martens.
（それはまた別の日にショッピングモールに行った時に感じたわ。また別のかわいいサンダルを見つけちゃって。ドクターマーチンだったんだけど）

【Jun】Yeah.
（うん）

【Akina】And they’re like brown. And then I was like, oh, they’re really cute. If only I didn’t buy those orange sandals, I wouldn’t feel guilty about getting these sandals. But then, I tried them on and they were too heavy. So I didn’t buy them.
（ブラウンで、すごくかわいいなぁって思ったの。あの時オレンジのサンダルを買わなかったら、罪悪感なくこのサンダルを買えるのにって思ったわ。でも試着したら重かったから買わなかったけど）

【Jun】So at the end of the day,
（結局）

【Akina】That’s way too many sandals for the end of summer. And I just need to start looking into boots for fall.
（夏の終わりなのにサンダルだらけよ。次は秋に向けてブーツを探さないと）

【Jun】Exactly. And at the end of winter season, I’m going to find 2 or 3 sets of the same boots but in different colors.
（その通りだね。そして冬が終わる頃には、また同じモデルの色違いが並べられているのを目にするんだろうね）

【Akina】I have a problem.
（靴を買いすぎててヤバいかも）

【Jun】It’s all good.
（いいんだよ）
