みっちゃんとの英語雑談Part 2では、みっちゃんのアラバマ旅行について色々聞いてみました！

テーマ: アラバマ州

【Jun】I heard you just got back from a road trip.
（旅行から帰って来たばかりなんだよね？）

【みっちゃん】Yes, I did.
（そうです）

【Jun】How was that?
（どうでしたか？）

【みっちゃん】It was so fun! Exciting.
（とても楽しかったです!）

【Jun】Where did you go?
（どこに行ったの？）

【みっちゃん】I went to Alabama. “Sweet Home Alabama.”
（アラバマに行きました。「スウィート・ホーム・アラバマ」です）

【Jun】Wow, I’ve never been to Alabama. I’ve never been to the South before.
（すごい。僕はアラバマに行ったことがないよ。アメリカ南部には行ったことがないんだ）

【みっちゃん】Where is the most south?
（アメリカで行ったことのある最南端の場所は？）

【Jun】Well, man, it’s a shame for me to say this, but I’ve only been to like a handful of like states in the United States.
（恥ずかしいんだけど、アメリカ国内ではごくわずかな州にしか行ったことがないんだ）

【みっちゃん】Oh, really?
（そうなんですか？）

【Jun】New York and maybe New Jersey, and that’s about it on the East Coast side. Everything else is like Las Vegas and Oregon and Washington and stuff like that. But yeah, anyway, how would you describe Alabama to people watching this?
（東海岸ではニューヨークとニュージャージーだけかな。その他はラスベガスやオレゴン、ワシントンDCぐらいかな。さておき、アラバマはどんな場所だった？）

【みっちゃん】Um, it was a nice countryside.
（えーっと、素敵な田舎でした）

【Jun】Can I ask you a question that I’ve always wondered about people living in the South? Are they really big? That is like my image of like people living in the South is they eat like a lot of like fried food and like a lot of barbecue and that like, even you know, people in Los Angeles are big, you know, compare to people in Japan, but I just imagined people like in the South to be even like bigger, just like big people living in that part of the United States.
（いつも南部の人たちについて気になることがあるんだけど。南部の人ってホントに大きいの？僕の中にある南部の人たちのイメージは、揚げ物やBBQをたくさん食べてる感じなんだ。LAに住んでいる人も日本人からしたら大きく見えると思うけど、アラバマに住んでいる人はアメリカの中でも大きいイメージがあるんだ）

【みっちゃん】Yeah, well, they were bigger people, but not as much as I thought actually
（大きかったですよ。でも想像していたよりは大きくなかったです）

【Jun】Oh, really?
（ホントに？）

【みっちゃん】I had the same image too, but yeah, people were like, everyone was able to walk on their own. You know, I’ve seen some people who can’t walk.
（私も同じイメージを持っていましたが、しっかり自分の力で歩ける人ばかりでした。アメリカには自力で歩けないくらい大きい人もいますからね）

【Jun】Because they’re overweight kind of thing.
（太りすぎで歩けないってことだよね）
