【Ken】Umm, so Deanna how about you? Any recent TV shows, movies that you’ve seen that you’re into?

【Deanna】Not recently, but I LOVE Game of Thrones. LOVE game of thrones. Are you guys fans?

【Ken】Oh yeah, me too. Games of Thrones fan, yeah for sure.

【Deanna】For anyone listening, watch Game of Thrones. It’s THE best, it’s my favorite show. Umm, and I think the… when’s the next season coming out?

【Lawrence】Next year.

【Deanna】Next year…

【Ken】Yeah you have to wait a while for it.

【Deanna】Yeah…

【Ken】Unfortunately.

【Deanna】Do you guys have a favorite character?

【Lawrence】Uh… that’s difficult…

【Ken】I think I do. I think uh Tyrion.

【Lawrence】Tyrion!

【Deanna】Tyrion, okay.

【Ken】Tyrion yeah he is, you know, I think all the characters in Game of Thrones are sort of, you know real in the sense that they have good sides and bad sides. And I think we see that with Tyrion and he’s a real clever guy as well so I always have a soft spot for clever characters like him so…

【Deanna】Right… umm, do you wanna (want to) explain what Game of Thrones is about? Just so people know.

【Ken】Umm yeah, for those of you who haven’t seen it. It’s basically a show that’s sort of like um … medieval times, you know, think if you think England, that sort of thing. But it’s set in a fictional world and there’s all these different… uh sort of kingdoms and lands and uh, so there’s a very interesting sort of world that the writers have created. A very rich world and great characters and there’s … there’s obviously a lot of, you know, fighting, and cool things like that.

【Deanna】(laughs), you’re leaving out the details but… Rated X!

【Ken】Yeah there’s a little bit of that but I think it’s really character driven.

【Lawrence】Yeah.

【Ken】You know that’s the cool thing. The characters are, like I was saying, so deep and so rich.

【Deanna】Yeah they’re what makes the show I think, for sure. I think my favorite is uh… John Snow… ‘cause he’s handsome! And he’s amazing, the protagonist basically, so yeah he’s a good one.

【Ken】He’s probably the… one of the characters in the show that’s truly a good person, right?

【Deanna】Yeah! They’re all, they all have ulterior motives, but that’s what’s great!

【Ken】But he’s kind of one of the pure characters. Like you know, last name Snow, very… very fitting.

【Deanna】I never thought about that. Is that the reason?

【Ken】It just dawned on me right now so.

【Deanna】Yeah. Snow, purity… interesting!

Ulterior は「隠された」、motiveは「動機」を意味することから、ulterior motiveは「下心」となり、言葉とは裏腹な不純な動機や企みを指します。

4) Fitting（〜に合っている）

Fitは洋服のサイズが合う・合わないと言う時によく耳にする単語ですが、洋服に限らず、ネーミングやロゴがコンセプトと合っていたり、物事が相応の結果で終わるといった状況でも使うことができます。

5) Dawn on（～に気づく）

Dawn on ____ は何かに初めて気がつくことを表します。Dawnは「夜明け」を意味する単語ですが、 暗い夜が明けていくように何かが徐々に明らかになり、結果的に何かに気づくのがdawn onのイメージです。例えば、プレゼン資料をオフィスに忘れてきたことに気づいた場合、「It just dawned on me that I left the handouts at the office.」と言うことができます。
