【Collette】I lived in Sacramento most of my time. I spent the last 25 years in Sacramento.
【Chris】Mm hm.
【Collette】And even though the weather is not, it’s not L.A. but they have beautiful… you know the beauty of that area is that they have seasons.
【Chris】Yeah.
【Collette】They have you know, the colors change on the trees, and it’s really…that’s great there. But it really is not the place you really want to land.
【Chris】(Laugh). It’s not the place you wanna (want to) land.
【Collette】No no, you don’t wanna (want to) stay there but you know…
【Chris】Yeah right.
【Collette】Yeah but it’s beautiful.
【Chris】Touchdown.
【Collette】Yeah it’s very conservative if you choose that.
【Chris】Yeah.
【Collette】Oh it’s nothing like L.A., I couldn’t stand it, you know?
【Chris】But 25 years you were there.
【Collette】I know but my um…I had something to do. I had my daughter that whole time and then she went to…
【Chris】Oh OK. Sure.
【Collette】Yeah she went to college and never came back (laugh). I guess I can move now.
【Chris】Right. Yeah no kidding. Excellent. Where did your daughters go to school?
【Collette】Oh, Chico. No yes yes yeah. Cal State Chico.
【Chris】Excellent.
【Collette】Have you been there?
【Chris】Nah I’ve never been there.
【Collette】Oh OK.
【Chris】Good school though right?
【Collette】Mm it’s…it’s not known for its academic record.
【Chris】Oh it’s not known for its academic record?
【Collette】No no but you will have a good time.
【Chris】Oh well that’s important.
【Collette】I drove through there. Well it was my daughter’s fault. She did not believe me what will happen if you do not get your grades up in high school.
【Chris】Right.
【Collette】Yeah so when Chico said all you had to do was be able to sign…(laugh).
【Chris】She joined up.
【Collette】She joined up.
【Chris】Well good for her for going through with it and going…you know?
【Collette】She did. She did the four years. I mean immediately.
【Chris】Yeah that’s great.
【Collette】I mean and…
【Chris】That must make you happy. Yeah.
【Collette】Oh it did, it did. You’ll have to see Chico at some point.
【Chris】Yeah fun school.
【Collette】Um it has more liquor stores than Starbucks (laugh).
【Chris】Yeah that…that tells you something right there.
【Collette】Yeah that’s what I immediately noticed is you drive through it’s like just two Starbucks (laugh).
【Chris】Just two Starbucks…
【Collette】But on every corner, there was a liquor store so it was…its reputation wasn’t far from the truth. But she did make it out of there.

Phrases of the day（今日のフレーズ）
1) Land（上陸する）
◎ “Land”は名詞の場合「土地」を意味しますが、動詞として使うと「上陸する」を意味します。
◎ 日常会話では、飛行機がどこかへ到着した時に“Arrive”の代わりによく使われ、「到着しました」を意味します。
- We safely landed in Tokyo.（東京に無事到着しました。）
- Call me when you land in Los Angeles.（ロサンゼルスに到着したら連絡してください。）
- What time do you land?（何時に到着しますか？）
2) Can’t stand it（我慢できない）
◎ “I can’t stand it”は、何かがあまりにも嫌で我慢できなかったり、イライラして耐えられない場合などに使われる日常フレーズです。
◎ “It”の代わりに、我慢できない対象となる具体的な物事を入れることもできます。
- I can’t stand it any longer.（もうこれ以上我慢できません。）
- I can’t stand this cold weather.（この寒さには我慢できません。）
- I can’t stand the crowded trains in Japan.（日本の満員電車には耐えられません。）
3) Drive through（通り抜ける）
◎ 車である場所を通り抜けることを“Drive through”と表現します。単に通り抜けるだけではなく、景色や雰囲気を注意をしながら運転するといったニュアンスがあります。その他、門やゲートを通過する意味としても使われます。
◎ ファストフードにある、“Drive-through”は“Drive”と“through”をハイフンで繋げる必要があります。
- We drove through downtown.（ダウンタウンを車で通り抜けました。）
- I drove through the mountains. It was beautiful.（山道を車で通り抜けました。とても綺麗でした。）
- Drive through the gate and make a right.（ゲートを通過して右折をします。）
4) Fault（〜のせい）
◎ “Fault”は使い方により様々な意味になりますが、今日の会話では「責任」を表しています。何かトラブルが生じた時に、「〜のせいだ」と人に責任を押しつける意味合いがあります。
◎「彼・彼女のせいである」は“It’s his/her fault” 「私のせいである」は“It’s my fault”になります。
- It was my daughter’s fault.（娘のせいです。）
- Don’t get mad at me. It’s not my fault.（私のせいではないので、怒らないでください。）
- That’s his fault for being late.（遅れたのは彼のせいです。）
5) Reputation（評判）
◎ “Reputation”は「評判」を意味し、「評判が良い」は“Good reputation”「評判が悪い」は“Bad reputation”となります。
◎ どのような評判なのかを伝える場合は、“Reputation for”の後に具体的な内容を入れます。
- It’s reputation wasn’t far from the truth.（その評判は真相からかけ離れたものではなかった。）
- That restaurant has a bad reputation for poor service.（あのレストランはサービスが悪いと評判です。）
- That incident is going to hurt their reputation.（あの問題は、彼らの評判を傷つけるでしょう。）

“The show notes include a full transcript and a detailed outline of today’s episode”.
だと思います。takemuraさんのは複数形のsとか細かいところも抜けていると思います。この辺は、文法とリスニングをもう少しやればカバー出来ると思います。
Jun さんお忙しいと思うので私に出来ればと回答させて頂きました。
ちなみに、海外の方はカタカナがすごく難しいそうです。私の友人のアメリカの方もそう言ってました。じゅんさんはバイリンガルですが、やはりアメリカの方なので、もしかすると私たちほど、カタカナには親しく無いかもしれないので、分からなくても、発音のままスペル綴ってみたりした方がいいのかな？と思ったり。。。
発音のためにも、カタカナは余りお勧めできるものでは無いですし。 英語の発音はやはりカタカナでは補え無いので。。。偉そうなことばかりすみません、私もまだまだ勉強中です、お互い勉強がんばりましょう^_^

いつもありがとうございます！英語の部分はその通りです。おっしゃる通りリスニング力と発音力を向上させる方法は音声で流れる英語を書き出すことです。ベストはスペルをし、トランスクリプトと照合し確認をすること。どうしても聞き取れない英語はカタカナでもオッケーですが、徐々にスペルをしていくことが上達に繋がります。
私もまだまだ英語＆日本語両方とも勉強中・・・特に最近は漢字が書けなくなってきて（汗）。みんなで頑張りましょう！
